5 Ways to Make Your Small Business Packaging Memorable…It’s Time for a Market!

It’s Market Season! I’m so excited to announce that Pursuing Beauty will be in the South West Farmer’s Market four times in the next couple of months! We are so excited and hope to see you there!

In honour of our first ever in-person event on June 1st, I thought it would be fun to share a few small business packaging ideas — one of the best ways to add character and love into a package!

  1. Throw that Confetti!

I love adding a bit of spunk to my packages with confetti — but you can also make your own confetti at home with a hole puncher and paper/tissue paper! It’s a great, economical way to add some pop! to a package.

Personally, I like to try to theme the confetti — such as tiny birthday cake confetti for my birthday cards — as I think it adds some excitement and variation to my happy mail, but there are so many other ways to include confetti in your package.

2. Stickers, stickers, stickers!

These stickers I had custom made for me by StickerCanada — these Gloss Art Paper Stickers are just what I needed for our upcoming market on June 1st!

Stickers are such an eye-catching way to liven up your small business packaging. I love these custom stickers because they have both my website and social tags on it — but stickers can also serve to maintain coherent branding on your packaging, saying “thank you” for an order, including details of the product, or all of the above! You just can’t go wrong with stickers when packing an order!

3. Stamps Everywhere!

Stamps are such a versatile packaging option that adds both flair and a coherent look to your product, not to mention they are reusable! Custom stamps for branding, logos, and websites, can be used to brand products (like my cards!), wrapping paper, or the outside of packages! I also make use of generic stamps to decorate my packages! Flowers and “thank you” stamps are my most used, but I also love to include bees and hearts in the spring, and sometimes even seasonal stamps during the winter months!

4. Pro Tip: Washi Tape

That’s it. That’s the tip.

…but in all seriousness…washi tape is great for decoration and sealing packages! I find that black washi tape is an all-purpose, on-brand addition to orders, however, I’m also loving this beautiful and fun washi tape! Washi tape is a great way to build anticipation because seriously, who wouldn’t want to open such a fun package??

5. And the winner is… Handwritten Notes!

A handwritten note is one of the most essential parts of small business packaging. Building relationships and forming a connection with customers is so rewarding and unexpected — it makes every package that much more special! It’s also so important to say thank you for all the support that comes with every order, and what better way to do that then in a personal note?

What do you think? Are there any tips that you have used on this list, or any that you would add? If so, share it in the comments!

Market Day is Coming Soon! Check out the Events tab for more details — hope to see you there!
